About the Journal

About League of Academics for Health and Social Research (LAHSOR), Nigeria.

It is a body of academics united by common research interest that cut across various areas of health and social sciences. A core thrust of their orientation is to interrogate the interface between health and social issues and to provide explanations on how the interaction between the two variables affects individuals in society and overall population health in human habitats.

LAHSOR was co-founded in 2005 by Rev Sr Dr M.Laurette Madu (a nurse educator) and Prof Ignatius Uche Nwankwo (a sociologist). The two were then part of the management and teaching team involved in capacity building of student nurses at School of Nursing, Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Ihiala, Anambra State, Nigeria. While working together, they saw the need for cooperation, interdisciplinary and multi-disciplinary research across health and social sciences for optimal benefit to patients, the health system and society at large.

The need for an organ to stimulate conversations and research, as well as to serve as a mouthpiece for dissemination of relevant knowledge in the areas of health and social sciences gave birth to the International Journal of Health and Social Inquiry (IJHSI) in April, 2011 with Rev Sr Dr M.Laurette Madu as first Editor-in –Chief.
