Abstract

This paper examines the EndSARS protest and the internal security challenges in Nigeria. The paper sought to determine the implications of the EndSARS protest on the internal security challenges in Nigeria. The study integrated a historical research design with a systematic literature review thus; secondary data was mostly used in the study. An attempt was made to identify the fundamental cause and catalyst of insecurity in Nigeria which has earned Nigeria the ignoble title of the third most terrorized country in the world. Using the five demands of the EndSARS protesters, the study critically analyzes Nigeria’s internal security challenges in terms of their origin, antecedents, consequence, or probable solutions. The study concludes by urging government attention to these demands and an urgent review of the country’s security policy and institution and rejig of the security infrastructure.
