Preamble
AKSU Journal of Politics and Society, AJOPAS is an open access, peer-reviewed and scholarly journal designed to advance creativity in research and innovative thinking in the science and art of politics and society. AJOPAS is conceived as a scholarly platform for researchers and practitioners in political theory, comparative politics, public administration, local government, international relations, political economy, peace studies and other stress areas in political science and related disciplines to explore issues and cross-fertilize ideas. Anchored on knowledge generation based on sound logic, AJOPAS is an initiative of the Department of Political Science, Akwa Ibom State University, Obio Akpa Campus, Obio Akpa, Akwa Ibom State NIGERIA
AJOPAS Editorial Policy and Objectives of AJOPSS
- Papers for publication in AJOPAS must necessarily interface with empirical investigation, discursive analysis and incisive perspectives. Accordingly, the journal expects and accepts original, logical, empirical, replicable and well-executed research articles.
- The structure of the journal discourse may be in form of analytical, expository, interpretive, and survey scholarly articles, that dissect current issues of national, sub-national and international politics as well as development expectations.
- The journal also publishes book reviews, commentaries, conference communiques and workshop reports on politics, statecraft and societal formations.
- Scholarly discourses of declassified technical reports and documentaries in politics and human society and challenges of social life are also welcome.
- The journal is indexed in Goggle-Scholar platform and other high online visibility platforms. Hard copy versions of the journal is published at the discretion of the Editorial Board.
The Editorial Board of AKSU Journal of Politics and Society, AJOPAS is pleased to invite scholarly papers for publication in the biannual (March and September editions) of the journal. Broad areas of focus are issues and themes in politics and society, social sciences, humanities, environmental sciences, education development studies, law, conflict process, resource control, social justice, etc.
Guideline for Submission of Papers by Contributors
1) Papers for submission should be divided into Introduction, Main body [this involves Review of Related Literature and Contextual Discourses, Theoretical and Methodological Issues, and one or two more (e.g. Result, Discussion as division–titles, depending on the content and paradigm of the paper) and Conclusion. 2) Paper should be preceded by an abstract of not more than 250 words and 4 to 6 keywords. 3) Pages of the paper should be numbered consecutively throughout. The title page, that is page 1, should contain (a) the title of the paper (b) authors’ full names (c) address/ institutional affiliation (d) Status of the author. Page 2 of the paper should contain (a) the title of the paper (b) abstract (c) key words (d) part of the introduction. This is to facilitate blind peer review of submitted papers. 4) Authors are to ensure that their papers conform to ADP (APA 7th edition) citation style. Accordingly, the in-text citation should be restricted to author’s surname, date and page, for example Ake (2016) or Akei (2016:27). This is then complemented in the out-text by the author’s name and initials, followed by the year of publication, title of publication, place [that is, name of city of publication and name of the publishers. 5) Only works cited in the in-text should be referenced in the out-text. 6) Authors are to avoid statements that link him/her to earlier canvassed views such as “Like I said earlier”. 7) Papers should be typed with Times New Roman, 12-point font size and 1.5 line spacing and should not exceed 18 pages of A4 size paper including title page and references. 8) Submitted articles shall undergo plagiarism check and blind peer-review in line with requirements of the editorial policy.
Handling Charge
A handling charge of N25, 000. 00 (Twenty-five thousand naira) only, for authors within Nigeria, and USD 50.00 (Fifty US dollar) for authors outside Nigeria; is payable. The charge is paid by the author after letter communicating acceptance of the paper for publication has been issued.
