CONSTRAINTS AFFECTING THE EFFECTIVENESS OF TEACHING PRACTICE OF STUDENT TEACHERS

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the Constraints Affecting the Effectiveness of Teaching Practice Exercise of Student Teachers from Colleges of Education and other Teacher Education Institutions in Anambra State. Three research questions were formulated to guide the study. The study adopted descriptive survey research design. Simple random sampling technique was used to select eight hundred and twelve (812) respondents. The instrument for data collection was a well-structured questionnaire. The data collected was analyzed using statistical mean. It was discovered that lack of partnership with practicing schools, enrolment of poor entrants, and lack of interest are the major problems facing the teaching practice exercise and teacher education in general. Based on these findings deductions and recommendations were made.
